Methodology and limitations

England

The official source publishes the full authority-area average Band D charge including local and major precepts. Other bands are derived using statutory proportions and marked as derived.

Wales

StatsWales publishes authority-level charges directly for Bands A-minus and A through I. Those values remain marked as published.

Monthly equivalent

The monthly figure is the annual charge divided by 12 for comparison. It does not describe a council's actual instalment schedule.

Local variation

Area averages may conceal parish, community and household-level differences. Always check the relevant council bill before making a financial decision.
